"In encountering “the lost music” on a recent trip to Hawaii, I heard an undocumented aspect of Father Yod and Yahowha 13. What I experienced on those tapes was not only the booming, authoritative bellow of Father Yod the spiritual teacher as represented on the Higher Key albums, but also the vulnerable coo of Yod the lover; the gentle care and reassurance of Yod the father figure; the carefree whimsy and the seductive swagger of Yod the romantic. But perhaps most interestingly, in the lost music I heard the musicianship of Yod the band member – not preaching above the music, but playing in it: singing, whistling, and beating his drums. To my ear 'The Magnificence in the Memory' documents some of the finest moments of Yahowha 13 performing as a band with Father, reminding us that in the Source Family the music was not simply in service of the teaching, but itself was master. And in that even Yod himself was disciple."
